Bringing Buyers to You – Choosing a High Traffic Low Competition Topic
First of all, let me start off by saying that in any business, big or small, you want customers who will buy your products. And most businesses fail not because they don’t have a great product, but because they can’t find buyers for their products. This is a marketing issue. How can you cost efficiently market your product? How can you find buyers?
If you are like most of us, you probably HATE soliciting! Nobody likes being asked to buy something, and in turn nobody likes to be the one who is doing the asking.
But what if there was a way to have buyers come to you?
What if buyers who were searching for the exact product you sell just showed up on your doorstep? Or walked into your store? Or landed on your website? Isn’t that what we all want. If you sell handmade ceramic Christmas trees, wouldn’t it be great if everyone who landed on your website was specifically searching for where they could buy handmade ceramic Christmas trees?
About six months ago I found my secret weapon! A keyword research tool. If you have been working online for many years then you know all about the importance of keywords and getting in Google for certain keyword phrases. But for many of you, you may have no idea what I’m talking about, and all you want is to know how to better market your business.
Let me tell you how I used a keyword research tool to find the right phrases to use in order for one of my Squidoo lenses to become the #1 listed site on Google for a keyword phrase that brings me more than 1800+ visitors per month. And with all the related phrases combined, this one page has gotten 9,684 visits in the last 30 days.
**Traffic Update. This one Squidoo page has gotten
8399 visitors in April
10,901 visitors in May
14,128 visitors in June.
I would have never chosen the topic/title/url that I did if it were not for the Jaaxy keyword research tool.
Basically, a keyword research tool looks at a bunch of data and tells you which phrases get a bunch of searches from people in Google. But more importantly it tells you how many other websites are already on the internet focused on this one phrase or topic. Then it will give you a score that indicates whether or not you have a good chance of ranking on the first page of Google for this phrase. It can be as simple as naming your blog title “Lighted Ceramic Christmas Tree” instead of saying “Ceramic Christmas Tress”. To you they may mean virtually the same thing. But to Google, one phrase doesn’t have much competition, so your webpage might get onto page 1 of Google, bringing buyers to you for free. While the other phrase has thousands and thousands of websites with that phrase in the title, and there’s no way for you to get shown on the first page of the Google search results. And the results in the first half of the Google search results get almost all of the traffic for online searches.
I started using the Jaaxy Keyword Research Tool back in November 2011. Sometime after that I wanted to write a page about a specific niche but didn’t know exactly what topic within that niche I should write about. So I went to my keyword research tool to help me pick out a topic that would have good traffic and low competition so that I would be able to rank well in Google.
After putting in my main topic I narrowed down specific long tail keywords and found one that looked promising. I have blacked out the actual keyword phrase for competition purposes. My keyword research tool told me that this keyword gets 4386 monthly searches (exact match) and if I were on the first page of Google I could expect to get about 746 visitors from that one keyword.
I chose to use this keyword because of the SEO Power Score of 93 (the higher the score the better). My keyword research tool gave a green light on this keyword phrase and it had a nice high score of 93. About six weeks after my webpage was published, I was ranked #1 in Google for this keyword phrase. And this keyword phrase alone has brought me 1820 visitors over the last 30 days. My total traffic to the page is much higher. It’s currently getting 9,684 visits in the last 30 days. Most of the keywords are some type of long tail keyword phrase that is closely related to this main keyword phrase. The main keyword phrase is bringing me the most traffic at 1820 visitors, with the next closest keyword phrase bringing me 525 visitors.
This one keyword phrase alone has brought me 1820 visitors over the last 30 days.
Not only do I use my keyword research tool to help me pick urls and titles, but I also use it to pick tags for my blog posts. It’s as simple as changing a few words around and you end up with a keyword phrase that gets lots of traffic and little competition from other websites. It simply helps you fine tune your wording of title phrases so you actually get traffic by ranking higher in Google. I focus in picking the right topics to easily get ranked in Google without doing any additional work. I don’t worry too much about backlinks.
Web Based Keyword Research Tool
Before I joined Jaaxy I had been using Market Samurai, which I liked, however it was a software program loaded onto my computer and many times it would make my computer run slow or make it crash. So I went searching for another keyword research tool that I could use. I found Jaaxy, and liked it because it run off a web server, so I could log into my account from any computer, or my ipad or iphone. The only negative is that it has a monthly subscription cost. But when I joined I told myself that I would try it out for one month and if I didn’t like it I would simply cancel my subscription and I would only be out of pocket the monthly price of $19. I ended up loving it and have continued my subscription since then.
Residual Passive Income Source
Jaaxy also has a referral program, so if you use it and like it, I suggest you write up a few blog posts with your results, like I have done here, and you’ll get a referral commission any time someone signs up for Jaaxy through your link. This can not only offset the monthly subscription cost, you can actually start earning passive income each month. Each referral will earn you $8 per month and will continue as long as the new sign up keeps their subscription going. You can slowly increase your monthly earnings by referring a few new users per month.
How to Get Customers 101
I am launching a new series of posts called How to Get Customers 101, and in this series I will take one product niche and go through the keyword search results that Jaaxy gives me. By doing this I hope to help work at home entrepreneurs which keyword phrases would be good ones to use for your blog posts and websites pages. This will give a peep into how a keyword research tool like Jaaxy can help YOUR business.
For my first product niche, I choose to focus on people who sell soy candles. I use to sell soy candles as part of a direct marketing company back before the internet was big. They had no way for customers to directly buy the soy candles online, and they also prohibited their distributors from certain online marketing. So I stopped working for them, although I wonder how I would do now that I know so much more about websites and how to get visitors from Google. I bet I could do quite well, knowing what I know now.
